First Birthday Party - Lifestyle Session
Celebrating a child's first birthday is always a treat - you've survived one another! This crazy first year has been a collection of joyful first moments, exhaustion, sleeplessness, tenderness, tears, peace, chaos and a myriad of other experiences and emotions. I love to document these stories as they capture all the family together enjoying each other and the party instead of taking turns with the camera.
I also love all the special details and thoughtful preparations that have gone into the occasion, including the delicious food, drinks, decorations and gifts. Time always flies by at these celebrations and it is wonderful to have the opportunity to look back on the photos and savour all the sweet moments with family and friends. And for those family members who are far away, these photos are a great way for them to celebrate, even when they can't be there in person.
This first birthday party was no exception, and I loved the opportunity to celebrate this gorgeous little girl and the sunshine she brings to the lives of everyone she meets. She was a little bemused at all the attention, but seemed to enjoy herself. Another special touch for the day was that she wore the same dress her mum wore for her first birthday so many years before. It has survived travelling many miles and several continents to be at this celebration and it was just one more detail which made this such a delightful story to document.
