Family Reunion - Lifestyle Session

Every now and then an opportunity comes along that is an absolute gift. This lovely family had that opportunity when one of their sisters and her family who live overseas came to visit them in Perth. They hadn't been together as an extended family for eight years, and the cousins had never met. With the impossibility of this occurring in the wake of Covid-19, I am sure they look back on this reunion with joy and gratitude.

As with all my outdoor or on-location photo shoots, I encourage a picnic or tea to relax everyone and curb any 'hangry' episodes for little people. While everyone is interacting and chatting, I capture some candid photos, taking care not to get any unflattering 'mouthful of food' shots.

I always ask if there is an activity that the family enjoys doing together, and this family enjoys playing cricket or throwing a ball around. They got the cricket bat and ball out to play and again, it encouraged some fun, interactive images that helped everyone relax and get used to me. We then took a walk around Kings Park, stopping occasionally to take some family portraits with everyone looking at the camera and others with everyone just enjoying each other.

In the end, we had a great afternoon together and the family received some precious memories they will cherish, particularly in these challenging times. I'm so grateful they had the opportunity to celebrate their time together.

With the relaxing of Covid-19 restrictions on family and friend gatherings, if you have a special family event, gathering or milestone coming up, I would love to join you and create some images you can enjoy being part of and treasure for years to come.
